It can't possibly be true, my baby can't be 6 months already & yeah I am a tad late on updating but we didn't have his 6 month check up until today so I decided to wait until I had his stats! (& my parents were up for the weekend so we were busy spending some time with them) Well he got 3 shots today & did great. He weighs 16.5 lbs (still) and is in the 30% for weight and he measured in at 27 1/2 inches which puts him in the 80% for height. With him going a while now without gaining weight the pediatrician is recommending we supplement with formula for a bit. (I really think that he is just too active now and burning a lot more calories!) Anyway, we are going to give it two more weeks, if he doesn't make significant progress in two weeks we will most likely do formula. Mark & I had already tried it back in December when I got sick & my supply dipped and we were not successful so I am a bit worried about it. He is so stubborn that he would rather go without eating that drinking formula. Anyway below are some more interesting "E facts"! :)
- Loves his pacifier, we can't go anywhere without it now and he opens his mouth as soon as he sees it. He loves playing with it, pulling it out of his mouth and putting it back in.
- He still loves playing with his feet. I think it actually soothes him, he will just hold onto his foot while he is nursing.
- Sleeps on his side now
- Loves splashing in the tub
- Started "drinking" water from a sippy cup
- Loves having his tongue out
- Still takes of his socks (I have pretty much given up on putting them on him)
- Loves being naked
- I have resorted to sleepers with zippers because he takes the ones with buttons off! I was waking up in the middle of the night to put them back on him.
- Has started walking in his walker, and will follow me around the kitchen
- He prefers to stand instead of sit or lay down
- He has started with the temper tantrums when he doesn't get what he wants
- He will reach out and stretch his arms out when you walk by him so you know that he wants to be picked up.
- Grabs for anything now, we need to be very careful with what we have in our hands before we pick him up.
- Is eating about 4-5 oz of solids a day now & nursing between 5-7 depending on the day
- He is still in size 3 diapers & goes through about 6 a day.
- He will occasionally take a bottle of pumped breast milk (it has to be under his terms though) :) You need to catch him in a very happy mood and he does not let you feed him, he wants to hold the bottle himself.
- Is wearing 9 month clothing (12 month sleepers because his feet are still too big)
- Loves his daddy and immediately starts smiling and bouncing as soon as Mark walks in the door!
- Is continuing to pull on Eddie's hair now a bit harder though.
- Hates being in the car seat and will arch his back & start fighting to get out pretty much as soon as you put him in.
- Loves being in the car
- Sleeping in his nursery & his crib!
- Loves to play "Peek 'a' Boo" (and Rrrrrr, Mark tries to scare him by roaring and he only laughs and looks at Mark anticipating the next roar)
- Tells me himself when he wants to nurse by hitting my chest and opening his mouth :) (it's so cute)
- He holds my face when he is nursing
- He gives Kisses now too! When I say "Beso" (kiss in Spanish) he opens his mouth really wide and slobbers all over your face, and then he laughs :)
- Is sitting in high chairs & shopping cart covers when we go out
- He hates our computer room for some reason and starts screaming as soon as we walk in there for something
- Is now sleeping through the night (At least he has been for the last week or so)
- Love's to listen to Nana & Tata call him on the phone (EVERY DAY) I am beginning to consider a web cam for my parents now, they seem to get worse with "Eli needyness" by the day. If I am late to posting a daily 365 pic, I 100% of the time get a call before I go to bed asking where it's at.
- Has found his helmet & doesn't love it. He pulls down on it a lot. (Hopefuly only 3 to 4 more weeks with it on)
- Loves to sit on the floor with his basket full of toys & play on his own.
- He is very egocentric and will take away anything you have in your hands even if his are already full with toys! :) He want more.
- Loves apple juice (We had to try it when he was constipated & I try to give it to him once a week)
- Loves bitter biscuits
- His favorite veggie is carrotts. I have to mix carrotts in with other veggies for him to eat them
- Loves going out for walks
- Loves going after the camera (I have a very difficult time getting decent pics of him now he is constantly moving)
- Is starting to immitate us. We play the Ahhh & Grrrr game. I will say AHHHH & then he does it, then Grrrrr & he does it. Then I ingnore him and pretend I am not paying attention and he will start saying Ahhhh louder each time until I pay attention & do it back, then he just starts cracking up He thinks it's the funniest thing ever!
- Loves to nap in my arms & snuggle in the morning on our bed he will just lay there smiling at me and touching my face. (So sweet & definately my favorite part of the day)
I will post pictures later, but I had not mentioned it before I am doing a photo project like many other bloggers are. I am taking a picture a day for an entire year. My theme is of course Eli so up on the right corner you can click on "365 Days of Eli" and follow his growth & milestones for the year. I leave you now so I can go cuddle with my hubby & promise to be back soon with more posts. I have a few mommy buddies asking about what products I have been using for my baby food & I have pics & links on what has worked for me so look for a post on that by the end of this week! ;)
