17 Week Belly Picture
So I am a little late in writing the 17 week update but it's been a wonderful week! Overall I have felt great, I am still tired but it seems like I no longer have too many food aversions! I have been able to enjoy most of my meals this week and it seems like baby is sucking everything up! I even woke up at 2:30 am one night because I was so hungry I couldn't sleep. Baby and I had cereal before going back to bed with Daddy! I also felt flutters in my belly for the very first time! I was in bed and it seriously felt like baby was doing somersaults in there! It was amazing. It was without a doubt the best feeling I have felt. It's just hard to believe that those little flutters is our child in there. I could not stop crying afterwards. I know Mark was a little anxious to feel it too but upset that he can't just yet. The look on his face was priceless though and he was just so curious on how it felt. I really couldn't explain to him exactly how it feels, my best description to him was like someone was popping popcorn in my belly. After we were over the excitement, he made me promise to let him know as soon as he could feel baby kicking from the outside! I feel like this week it finally hit us both, with being able to see some baby belly and feeling the baby move inside makes the whole experience finally seem real. With all the little bumps along the way, it feels really good to finally be at this point where we are enjoying the pregnancy so much more! Although Mark knows he probably won't be able to feel the baby move, he is really enjoying having his hand on the belly and kissing the baby every little chance he gets!
Baby at 17 Weeks
Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.
