A letter to our Son...

Dear Eli,

Daddy & Mommy are going on a vacation today. We will be going up to New York but we promise you to only be away for a week. The more we think about it we might cut it short a few days because we already miss you sooooo much! We had planned on taking you with us the entire time we had been planning the trip but up to a few days ago we decided that it would be best for you to stay with Nana & Tata. You see our little stinker, you are a very active little boy! We decided it would not be in your best intentions to take you with us and put you through a 9 hour day of airports, and airplanes, Taxi's and subway's! You need to be up and running around most of the day to burn off all that energy you have inside your little body. We also did not like the idea of exposing you to all those germs even though we prepared you as best we could and had you get your flu shot a few weeks ago. We also didn't want to and keep you confined in an airplane for such a long period of time. We knew you would not handle it well at this point. Nana and Tata made a special trip to Phoenix yesterday just to come pick you up so you could spend the week playing and getting spoiled by them! You were sooooo excited too and Mommy could not stop crying when I put you in your carseat and you were just sooooo eager to go with them! I know you are in the best of hands we could ask for and you will be very well taken care of. Too well if you ask me, I think Daddy and I might have some issues when we get back getting you back to a routine because we just know that Nana & Tata will let you sleep with them and spoil you with cookies, ice cream and toys!

Just know that if we had planned a shorter trip maybe 2 or 3 days we would have taken you with us in a heartbeat! In fact Daddy was still saying last night that we still had time to go pick you up and bring you with us! We really do want you to have been able to be a part of this and you have no idea how hard it has been on us knowing that we will go a week without seeing you! We just can't stand the thought of not being able to hold you and kiss you at any moment in the day, or have you wrap your arms around us, lift up or shirts to look at our belly button or blow raspberries on our tummies! You are such a silly little boy! We will miss absolutely EVERYTHING about you, yes this includes your dirty little diapers! Actually I think Daddy is happy he can pass that along to Tata for a week :) Yesterday was the hardest day for us Eli! Mommy has not been away from you a single day or a single night since you have been born and I am having a hard time dealing with it. We love you little guy, you are the best thing that has ever happened to us and we can't wait to get back to you! Please have fun and enjoy your little vacation as well! We will miss you every single day and every single minute of this trip! See you soon!

P.S. - Please remind your Nana to document everything you do for us! I know she will do a great job taking daily pictures of you, but Mommy & Daddy really don't want to miss a single moment of your life!
